Past Shows

This Sunday was Galli Lucha Libre’s Fan Appreciation Show. Featuring six matches filled with some of the best Lucha Libre competitors in the Midwest, Galli put on an incredible free show that truly gave thanks to their faithful fans. Here’s a look at each of the six matches from this past Sunday’s event:

Golden Dragon vs Atomico Jr.
The show started with an emotional encounter between the high flying Golden Dragon and Atomico Jr. Both men showcased their agility in this opening contest. Despite several attempts by Atomico Jr. to get into the head of Golden Dragon, it was Dragon who was able to pick up the win in the end. Golden Dragon walked away from the ring showered in cheers from the fans. Little did they know what Golden Dragon had planned for later in the night.

Elliot Paul vs Mojo McQueen:
Elliot Paul, accompanied by the scheming James Russo, took on the Voodoo King of Villa Park, Mojo McQueen, in a controversial bout. The match started with the ferocious McQueen delivering a series of devastating knife-edged chops to Paul. Paul, with the help of the dastardly Russo, was soon able to gain control of the match though. Not all appeared to be lost for McQueen however, as he soon used this powerful offense to get back into the match. Unfortunately, it was not enough, as McQueen was unprepared for James Russo’s latest trick. Elliot Paul ended up stealing the win after he smashed McQueen in the face with a foreign object given to him by Russo. McQueen made his displeasure known after the match as he stared down, and then even chased, Paul and Russo as they made a hasty retreat.

Billy Star and Furia Roja vs De Sabu and Traidor:
The Galli Junior Heavyweight Champion Furia Roja teamed with Billy Star to take on the debuting De Sabu and the scheming Traidor. Traidor and De Sabu tried to control the match with an arsenal of underhanded tactics. Star and Roja proved more than game however, as they were able to pick up the win thanks to their high flying offense.

Atomico, Pentagono Jr., and Eros vs Guerrirto, Imperia Azteca, and Halcon:
The action was frantic in this six-man tag team affair. Atomico opened the match with a strut off with his opponents, but it wasn’t long before the proceedings got physical. In the end, the Galli Classic Champion Eros was able to lead his team to victory with a sunset-flip powerbomb. Unfortunately, Eros’ triumphant did not last long. The villainous Traidor jumped Eros and inflicted a brutal post-match beatdown on the champion. This brought out the upstanding Golden Dragon to save Eros, or at least that’s what the audience thought. Dragon joined in on the beatdown of Eros. They then committed one of the greatest sins in Lucha Libre by demasking the champion. Eros was able to get his mask back, but I can’t imagine he will soon forget how Golden Dragon and Traidor dishonored him.

The Spot Monkeys (Alex Romero and Brad Kevins) vs Skayde Jr. and Gringo Loco:
The Spot Monkeys lived up to their name in this match as they brought a unique aerial attack against Gringo Loco and Skayde Jr. Although Gringo Loco and Skayde Jr. were able to return the favor with some lucha offense of their own, it wasn’t enough to beat the Spot Monkeys. The Monkeys were able to pin Gringo Loco after Skayde Jr. was forced to leave the match due to injuries he sustained in this high octane brawl.

Barry Ryte vs Pat Monix:
The Galli Championship was on the line in the main event as Barry Ryte, accompanied by the scheming James Russo, took on the athletic Pat Monix. Monix proved to be a worthy opponent for the Galli Champion as his unique style of lucha libre offense almost became too much for Ryte. The match looked to be wrapped up as Monix hit a devastating curb stomp on Ryte. Seeing his champion in trouble, James Russo sprung into action, distracting the referee from an obvious three-count as Elliot Paul snuck behind Monix to hit a double underhook facebuster and roll Ryte into the pin. Monix, showing the heart of a champion, kicked out, but immediately was struck by an Unprettier from Ryte. As Ryte celebrated another stolen victory, Mojo McQueen emerged ready to take vengeance on Russo, Ryte, and Paul for his loss earlier in the night. He cleared the ring and made it known that he was on the hunt for the Galli Championship.

Overall, it was a great night of Lucha Libre action with several twists that will surely send shockwaves through the Galli Universe. It will be exciting to see what happens next, as Galli returns this Sunday!
